What makes us tick? Ultimately, it’s always our personality. This wonderfully dazzling and unique “me” through which we see ourselves and the world. So far, so good – as seen by others.
But once we start thinking about our self, things get more complicated. Because it is impossible to answer the question of our own identity in just one or two sentences. There are simply too many aspects to our essence. Any attempt at a short description is bound to be wonderfully off the mark.
So we can safely leave the question “Who am I?” unanswered for the time being. In a complex world, with seemingly infinite options, it would be better to focus on two different questions: “Who do I want to be?” and “What is worth living for?”
There we have it. You can’t have a good life without having a personal idea of the meaning of your own life. So let’s allow ourselves to be curious and open to what is important to us. Ideally, we’ll then forget all about those pesky questions – and even forget ourselves for a change.
